Luxury packaging engages multiple human senses, not just sight. The smooth, velvety feel of a soft-touch matte lamination combined with the raised metallic gleam of hot foil stamping creates an instant, psychological perception of high product value. Pak CustomBox specializes in engineering the highly complex, separate vector finish masks required to execute multi-process surface embellishments on premium paperboards.
Unlike metallic ink, which can look dull and flat, true hot foil stamping uses heat and extreme pressure to permanently bond a micro-thin layer of metallic film directly into the paper fibers. We generate the specialized vector spot-color layers required to machine the solid brass or magnesium stamping dies. We offer traditional yellow gold and bright silver, alongside modern rose gold, brushed copper, holographic prisms, and matte pigmented foils.
Embossing raises your logo or pattern above the paper surface towards the viewer, whereas debossing presses the graphic firmly down into the thick cardstock. We construct precise male-and-female die artwork files capable of executing multi-level sculpted 3D embossing. When executing "registered embossing" (where the raised area aligns perfectly with printed CMYK ink), our files account for microscopic paper stretch to ensure exact mechanical registration.
One of the most striking luxury finishes relies heavily on texture contrast. We apply a light-absorbing, anti-scratch velvet soft-touch lamination across the entire box surface. We then apply a thick, high-build Spot UV gloss varnish exclusively over specific logos or geometric patterns. The resulting visual pop—where the glossy area catches overhead retail lighting against the dead-flat matte background—is highly effective for modern cosmetics and premium electronics.
We offer high-shine metallic gold, rose gold, silver, bronze, brushed steel, matte white/black, holographic prism, and custom Pantone-matched pigmented foils.
Embossing pushes the paper from behind, raising the graphic above the surface. Debossing stamps the paper from the front, indenting the graphic down into the material thickness.
Yes! In fact, the stark tactile contrast between the light-absorbing velvet soft-touch film and the light-reflecting high-gloss Spot UV creates the most striking visual effect possible.
No, 'blind' embossing relies entirely on the physical shadow and depth created by the stamping die altering the raw paper texture, without any colored ink printed over the top.
