Manufacturing small packaging presents unique technical challenges that many standard print factories cannot handle. When a box is only two inches tall—such as a lip balm carton, a 10ml essential oil dropper box, or a miniature jewelry ring box—the margin for error shrinks to zero. Standard die-cutting machines will frequently crush small fold lines, and heavy commercial printing presses will blur tiny 6pt ingredient text. Pak CustomBox utilizes specialized micro-creasing equipment and ultra-high-resolution offset plates to produce flawless miniature packaging.
The primary issue with small folding cartons is "flap tension." When you fold a very small piece of thick 24pt paperboard, the board's natural memory wants to spring back open. This causes the top lids of small boxes to permanently bow outward or fail to stay tucked. We solve this by engineering reverse-tuck dielines with specialized locking friction-tabs, and by using slightly thinner, highly pliable 14pt to 16pt premium SBS paperboard that holds a sharp, dead-flat crease without springing back.
Small packaging still requires massive amounts of legal text, including FDA ingredient panels, net weight declarations, and barcode numbers. We output master files using specialized stochastic (FM) screening or high-LPI conventional line screens. This ensures that even tiny 5pt or 6pt Helvetica text remains razor-sharp and perfectly legible without the ink bleeding or dot-gain muddying the letters.
For high-value miniature items like diamond rings or luxury watches, a thin folding carton is insufficient. We manufacture micro-rigid boxes using solid 1.5mm greyboard wrapped in premium textured papers. These tiny rigid setups can feature magnetic snaps, ribbon drawer pulls, and custom die-cut velvet foam cavities that grip your small products with absolute precision, elevating the perceived value of the item exponentially.
Depending on the structure, we can manufacture folding cartons as small as 0.75" x 0.75" x 2" (ideal for lip balms or 5ml vials), and small rigid boxes down to 2" x 2" x 1".
Yes, but there are strict global limits. A standard UPC barcode can only be scaled down to 80% (roughly 1.17 inches wide) before retail scanners fail to read it. We ensure compliance before printing.
We heavily recommend thinner 14pt or 16pt SBS paperboard. If you use thick 24pt board on a tiny box, the structural tension will cause the flaps to bow open.
Yes! Because we use precision-machined brass stamping dies, we can execute highly detailed metallic foil logos and text even on very small surface areas.
